Halp meh... Wiring up 3 batteries in a boat

I got 2 batteries wired in series for accessories and one for the boat motor and console. I understand the 2 separate systems will feed separate boat positive wire feeds. My question is I think all batteries ground to the boat itself, so is there going to be issues with feeding different accessories from 2 power sources, that are sharing the same ground? Does that make sense what I am asking? Will there be a back feed and fry something?

A ground is a ground.... You said you wired them up in series?? That will make 24 volts if they are 12volt batterys.. And i don't think you are wanting 24 volts... You should be wiring them up paralleled to get 12volts

Why are they wired in series? I guess i'm missing something

his trolling motor and maybe anchor winch is 24v dingus.   ties the grounds together is fine. they should ground to the boat in one spot only. and never use the hull as a grounding conductor   |

No guys, sorry for the confusion, they are wired parallel. Or were. I now have one battery for the motor/console, and a separate one for the winches. And a 2 bank charger connected to both. I think I am going to remove the bad 3rd battery and just not replace it. This is one more issue Brownie, my headlights/spotlights I got on the bow DO ground to the hull. They ground through the mounting brackets. |
