I got 2 batteries wired in series for accessories and one for the boat motor and console. I understand the 2 separate systems will feed separate boat positive wire feeds. My question is I think all batteries ground to the boat itself, so is there going to be issues with feeding different accessories from 2 power sources, that are sharing the same ground? Does that make sense what I am asking? Will there be a back feed and fry something?

A ground is a ground.... You said you wired them up in series?? That will make 24 volts if they are 12volt batterys.. And i don't think you are wanting 24 volts... You should be wiring them up paralleled to get 12volts

his trolling motor and maybe anchor winch is 24v dingus. ![]() ![]() ties the grounds together is fine. they should ground to the boat in one spot only. and never use the hull as a grounding conductor ![]() |

No guys, sorry for the confusion, they are wired parallel. Or were. I now have one battery for the motor/console, and a separate one for the winches. And a 2 bank charger connected to both. I think I am going to remove the bad 3rd battery and just not replace it. This is one more issue Brownie, my headlights/spotlights I got on the bow DO ground to the hull. They ground through the mounting brackets. ![]() |
