Just got a new part today!!! :)

I didn't realize that it only comes with one strap and two bolts, wtf is that shit? :shitsweak:

So I got the other ones ordered and on they way. This should snug up my loose joint caps real nice in the yoke. :) They been slopping around in the yoke for a year. :wtf: And that neutral to drive gear shift "bang" should be a thing of the past!!! :High 5:

Well, when you got an older vehicle you'll have a certain amount of slop. http://northporttroller.b1.jcink.com/uploads/northporttroller/Smilies/bounce.gif

I'm going to take video to show the cup slapping around under the current straps. http://northporttroller.b1.jcink.com/uploads/northporttroller/Smilies/blink.gif

I am lucky I haven't dropped a drive shaft yet. http://northporttroller.b1.jcink.com/uploads/northporttroller/Smilies/biggrin.gif

Sometimes its the yoke, And you can fix that by grinding the mating surface of the strap. Or cutting a piece out of a coke can, To make like a shim. But put the shim on the side of the strap. And no in the yoke.

Phuck, great tips there dude, wish I would have seen it sooner.

What I really wanted to do was convert it to u-bolt setup but I never did it before and didn't want to mess my shit up. I was thinking if I could drill those threaded holes out and get the right sized u bolts and nuts it should work. I am not sure if I have the clearance for the nuts on the back side of the yoke either.

Slop Video:

So yes the straps were stretched out and the joint caps were slopping around in them. Only thing keeping the shaft from dropping out were the C-Clips on the caps which were getting a workout trying to keep everything from falling apart. Installed 1 new strap I had and did the redneck beer can shim trick on the other strap. I started off with a piece of the side of the can but seemed too thin, so I want after the bottom part of the can which is thicker and already shaped to fit. :) That bitch is nice and tight now. Also checked out the yoke for possible future mod to convert to the u-bolt setup. IMO there is plenty of room and meat on the yoke to do it.
