Throw away all all that electrical bullshit.

Throw in an HEI distributor from proform..12 volts and that mofo will run... No need for all them damn electrical boxes and all that wiring.

. And a GM single wire altenator. That will make a sweet engine.

That is the onnly thing i hate about dodge... There wiring sucks pp

How about just buying a used motor Joe?

I'm having a hard time following here, so you already got a used motor to replace the motor with the blown head gasket? And you are freshening up the replacement motor? And a buddy is doing all this work and installing it for you?

I took a Dodge and GM HEI distributor and cut them both in half to get the GM HEI to fit on the Dodge motor. I was pretty proud of that. I forgot how I got the housing back together.

Refreshing the replacement motor and the motor being pulled is going on a stand in my garage. My buddy who is a certified mechanic for a dealership is doing it for me on the side... I still work out of town 4 days a week and need it done fast and right. I would like to have a boat behind it by the end of the month.

hope that clears it up

honestly all my wrenching has been trial and error... nobody has really taught me much, just little tidbits here and there. So this job would have taken me a while with no dodge experience. That and the out of town thing is why I subbed out the job.
I just want something reliable to do big truck stuff and paying someone with the know how was the right thing to do at this point.

Ok got it. I was just looking around on CL over the weekend, it's shocking how scarce that era of Dodge trucks and engines are getting.

It's a shame too... This truck is a tank. It has hit several deer in its lifetime and you can barely tell.

My mechanic is going to start on the motor tonight and I am hoping for the best I am about to drop off the remaining parts. What sucks is I got so much stuff going on I have no time to study factory service manuals and diagrams so I can start to understand what I will be getting into once I get this truck back home.

I really dont like paying other people to do stuff I can do but man... Life is jam packed for me right now to the point I dont have time to catch bait and hit the river.
Lucky for me I have a deal made to sell my taurus SHO for 450 bucks as is and had a couple hits on the Blaster
I need to recoup some funds quick or this wont be a hustle... nah mean.
