Wellllllllll, i love you all here. So i'ma share my buddys race engine build here. Well its mostly his.. lol
Well, If you remember the little incident in Vanleer TN last year,Someone decided to fill the fuel tank with beer as we was waiting to run. And we thought it just phucked our fuel system.... No no... It took the whole engine.
Cam and lifters totally roached,Had about an hour run time on it. All the rod bearings were shot in the engine, piston skirts ate up... One piston had that sugar build up on in it and was stiff as shizt, And it ate a push rod. Along with eating up a couple rocker arms... This engine was built 2 years ago... And only ran about 15 mud bogs, And some tuning.
Rod bearings, you can see the sugar shit..
So we stripped the block completly down, and sent it to the machine shop
In the first picture you can see factory casting slag in the middle... Second picture shows where i cut it out with a drimmel to let the oil flow better.
With the new engine build, we are going to a set of 781 big block oval port heads, They are in the machine shop right now getting some loving. Putting in bigger valves and a little porting work. Should be a big improvement.
Machine shop, hot tanked the block and put new freeze plugs and cam bearings and oil galley plugs. He also took the old pistons off the rods, checked the rods and then installed the new pistons. Will pick up the block this weekend i think. 600
Machine shop said the crank was hurt, but could be machined. We end up having to take it to another shop have have turn .010 under. Its back to tip top shape now.
I ordered new oversized push rods and guid plates,King race rod and main bearings, non bypass oil adapter, and new valve covers.
