So my expertise is the software side of things as I create custom applications for different groups as well as support a few vendor applications for our Accounting and HR departments. Well, yesterday I'm helping some users (as we're in the middle of migrating to a windows 7/office '10 environment) and we're all good. Just normal stuff and getting the applications configured properly to work with Windows 7.
Well, in the middle of that a fire storm hit. A desktop guy comes over with questions about the display settings on people's monitors. DON'T YA THINK A DESKTOP GUY SHOULD BE A SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT ON MONITOR SETTINGS?? Anywho, I kind of help out there but have other things I need to do. Well this set off a chain reaction like no other. 3 other people stop me with similar questions Out of the goodness of my heart I help them out because I have a hard time saying no and realize not everyone is good at that kind of stuff.
The straw that broke me is when the first person I helped with her screen stopped me again and said, "Well, I can see everything now (she's blind as a bat) but now my desktop pic isn't right" At this point I'm done and I say you may want to call help desk as they'll be much faster at this. As soon as there was a break I darted for the door and hurried back to my desk.
