1999 40 HP Mercury #37-856984 7

S# G905410

40elpto

Family: XM9XM0059210

Standard Plug: NGK BP8H-N-10

Suppressor Plug: NGK BPZ9H-N-10

So my buzzer started going off, motor wasn't over heating, had plenty of oil for the injector. Today I traced the wires for the only two sensors on the motor. One in the head is for overheaat. On in the bottom of the oil tank is for low oil warning. After unplugging them one at a time and turning on the key it is apparent the oil sensor is faulty.

$13 bucks. smile.gif

He needs to throw up his enginge numbers.

We should make a thread of all our engine numbers so we can help each other out. smile.gif

As far as this repair, it will wait, I just unplugged it for now. http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd448/NorthportTroller/Smileys2/shitsweak.gif

At least the sensor did something, it could have went out and not did anything. If I had a motor like that I'd probably just premix it and forget that whole oil tank mess.

I always worry about it taking a shit, there is no sensor to tell you that it is pumping oil into the fuel, just tells you if your tank is empty.

I got to pull the carbs too and clean them, I got a little needle valve leakage. It's got 3 carbs. http://i752.photobucket.com/albums/xx163/bobkyle2/dumb/picard.png

I am looking at them now, but I got to get a gasket set before I pull them....

Carb repair kits, $25 each, gasket sets $7. I'll got with the gasket sets and hope nothing is worn inside, like the needle valves...

I've had my carb off several times for cleaning and never needed new gaskets, guess I'm lucky. http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd448/NorthportTroller/Smileys/yes.gif
